750ml Johnstones Damp Proof Paint
PREPARATION:
This paint should be applied preferably to unpainted masonry surfaces. However, if these have been previously painted, remove as much of the old paint as possible by thorough scraping and wire brushing. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Treat any mould or lichen with Johnstone’s Sterilisation Wash before removing with a scraper or stiff brush, then treat surface again with Johnstone's Sterilisation Wash. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
APPLICATION:
Stir well before use. A thick film is necessary for maximum effectiveness. For the professional contractor this can best be achieved by airless spray in one application. Brush application can be employed, in which case two coats are recommended to achieve the required film thickness, allowing 16–24 hours between coats. Follow with subsequent Johnstone's decorative finish, or leave as a finish in its own right.
COVERAGE:
Johnstone’s Damp Proof Paint will cover at the rate of approximately 4 square metres per litre. It is important to ensure that this total film thickness is achieved – do not overspread.
DRYING TIME:
Touch dry in 2–3 hours. Recoatable after 16–24 hours.
Availability: In stock
Johnstone's Damp Proof Paint is a Pliolite® resin based paint specially formulated for application to damp interior wall surfaces. Can be left as a finish in its own right or as a damp proofing primer/sealer prior to overpainting with Johnstone's Anti-Mould Acrylic, or other Johnstone's decorative finishes. It incorporates a water-reactive agent which takes care of residual surface moisture, but this does not remove the need to repair any structural faults which allow water to penetrate into the fabric of the wall.
